Redbird FMX Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD)
Wings of Eagles is proud to feature the Redbird Full-Motion Simulator! Whether you are a student looking to practice
emergency procedures, or an IFR-rated pilot looking to brush up on cloud flying, the Redbird Full-Motion Simulator is a
great alternative to the real thing!
Redbird™ FMX—When it comes to flight simulation, there's little doubt that motion is desirable but the steep cost of most motion simulators makes the idea of owning one ridiculous for most training operations. But not anymore! Enter the FMX, the flagship model of the Redbird family.
The Redbird FMX is a high-quality, feature-rich motion AATD, priced with real-world flight training operations in mind. With standard features that are anything but standard, such as wrap-around visuals, a fully enclosed cockpit, reconfigurable construction, and of course a motion platform, the FMX serves up a level of realism that is simply unavailable in other training devices on the market.

Motion Without the Commotion
The idea of using motion to enhance the flight simulation experience is nothing new. In fact motion simulation has been used to train pilots since 1929. However the expense of motion simulation has kept it largely out of reach of all but the largest training operations.
From the start, we committed ourselves to building a superior, safe, and cost-effective alternative for motion simulation.
That's why we developed an all-electric platform that provides fluid and consistent motion, without requiring you to run a
special power line into your building. Our platform is quieter and smoother than pneumatic systems and smaller, cleaner and
more affordable than hydraulic systems.
Instruction in the Redbird FMX AATD may be logged toward the following FAA requirements:
- Instrument flight experience/currency
- Instrument Proficiency check (Excludes circle-to-land)
- Private Pilot Certificate: Up to 2.5 hours
- Instrument rating: Up to 20 hours
- Commercial Certificate: Up to 50 hours
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate: Up to 25 hours
- Instrument rating Practical Test (FAA-S-8081-4)
Keep Your Arms and Legs Inside the Cockpit At All Times
Immersing the pilot in the simulation is essential to selling sensation of flight. Sitting in a corner at a desktop trainer might help to train certain skills, but it will never be confused for real flight. You have to isolate the pilot and instructor from the outside world so that they can be totally focused on the simulation. That's why the Redbird FMX comes equipped with a light-weight aluminum cockpit enclosure. Not only does this help to immerse the pilot in the simulation, but it also isolates the student and instructor from outside distractions that can easily derail a training session.
Have a Look Around
A great visual system is essential for a training device to be truly effective and versatile. And if you want to train
complex maneuvers such as turns around a point, circling approaches or even basic pattern work, one forward looking screen
is not going to cut it. That's why we equipped the Redbird FMX with six monitors dedicated only to external views. This
high-quality, wrap-around visual system helps to sell the sensation of flight and enhances training at all levels by allowing
you to train procedures and maneuvers that are not possible with other flight training devices.
